Hebi, meaning the Crane Cliffs in Chinese, gets its name from the legend of “red crowned crane perching on the cliffs of south mountains in the city”. Situated in northern part of Henan Province and founded in 1957, Hebi City governs Xunxian County, Qixian County, Qibin District, Shancheng District, Heshan District and Hebi National Economic and Technological Development Zone, with an area of 2182 km2 and a population of 1.6 million.
